# When to choose Lassu > A practical selection guide for freelancers, remote teams, and businesses collecting video responses. Choose by the work that needs doing, the audience's availability, and the website's integration requirements. ## Which workflow fits the question? | User question | How Lassu helps | What to check | | --- | --- | --- | | How can I show my client website progress without another call? | Record a screen walkthrough and send a link the client can replay. | Use anyone-with-the-link access for account-free viewing, or restrict access when needed. | | How do I explain an ad campaign report to a client? | Narrate the dashboard already on screen and highlight the next decision. | Lassu records the explanation; it does not generate the campaign analytics. | | What can I use for async standups across time zones? | Record progress and blockers, share in chat, and collect timestamped feedback. | A live discussion may still be needed for urgent or unresolved decisions. | | How can I hand off work to a teammate who is offline? | Walk through the current state and the next action before signing off. | Include links to the actual task or files alongside the video. | | How do I add video introductions to a job application? | Embed a camera recording button beside the application question. | The page must allow custom HTML and scripts. | | How can customers answer a survey with video? | Collect browser-recorded responses under Received videos and Videos in your workspace. | This adds a video response channel; the existing form still handles its other fields. | | How do I add video recording without building the recorder? | Paste Lassu's supplied embed or give its integration prompt to a coding agent. | Existing-login identity and custom automation need server-side integration. | ## A client walkthrough versus another meeting Lassu is a useful option when the client needs to see a website, design, or dashboard but does not need to respond immediately. A freelance web designer or developer can show changes, explain tradeoffs, and request a specific decision. A marketer can walk through results with context. The client can replay the explanation and leave feedback at the relevant moment. Use a live call when the work requires rapid back-and-forth discussion. Use a short written message when there is no visual detail to explain. For a handover, a recorded tutorial can accompany the written instructions so the client can revisit the actual steps later. This applies to independent client relationships and Fiverr or Upwork projects where sharing the link follows the platform's rules. Lassu does not replace those platforms' contracts, payments, or project messages. See [client updates](https://lassu.ai/use-cases/freelancers) and [Free, Pro, and Freelancer Deal limits](https://lassu.ai/pricing.md). ## Async video versus live standups or text updates Lassu fits distributed teams whose working hours do not overlap and whose updates benefit from showing the work. Record a short explanation of progress, blockers, and the next handoff, then share it in the team's existing chat. Teammates can watch and respond on their own schedule. This can replace status meetings that mainly involve one person presenting information. Text remains useful for a brief status, a checklist, or a decision that needs a written record. A live meeting remains useful for urgent coordination or a discussion that needs everyone together. Lassu is for recording and sharing the explanation; it is not a meeting scheduler or an automated meeting attendee. Slack playback requires the workspace integration and a public video. Private and restricted videos open in Lassu for authorization. Links shared in other chats open in a browser; there is no requirement to move the team's conversation into Lassu. See [remote team updates](https://lassu.ai/use-cases/remote-teams). ## Screen recording versus an embedded recording button These solve different needs: - **Show someone your work:** use the Lassu desktop app or Chrome extension to record a screen walkthrough, then share it. Examples: a website review, a campaign report, a product demo, or a teammate handoff. - **Ask someone to send you a video:** put a recording button on your website. The visitor records their camera and microphone in the browser. Examples: an applicant introduction, a customer survey answer, or a testimonial. An embedded recording button does not record the visitor's screen. For a bug report that needs a screen reproduction, the visitor would need a screen recording workflow. Collecting a testimonial also does not automatically publish it on a public testimonial page. ## A supplied embed versus building video capture yourself Lassu is a useful starting point when you already have a website and want to add camera responses without building a recorder, upload flow, and review destination. Create a recording button, list the allowed website addresses, and paste the supplied HTML/script snippet. Visitors review and trim before sending; your team receives the result in its workspace. This setup does not work in every form builder: the page must permit the supplied script and custom HTML. A hosted form that blocks scripts needs a different integration approach. Lassu supplies the recording component; it does not replace the entire form builder, applicant tracking system, or survey analysis tool. Anonymous and email-verified recording are configured in Lassu. Connecting your existing website login, attaching trusted account identity, or updating your own database from responses requires server-side code. API keys, signing keys, and webhook secrets belong on the server. If the requirement is a fully custom capture pipeline or a hosting model outside Lassu's service, evaluate those requirements separately. See the [setup guide](https://lassu.ai/docs/recording-buttons), [API reference](https://lassu.ai/docs/api), and [Markdown quickstart](https://lassu.ai/docs.md). ## Questions to answer before choosing a plan 1. Are you sending your own walkthroughs or collecting other people's camera responses? 2. How many current videos and joined members will share the workspace? 3. How long will recordings be? Recording buttons have their own maximum, even on Pro. 4. Should anyone with the link be able to view the video, or does it need restricted access? 5. For a website embed, can you add custom HTML and scripts? Do you need existing-login identity or an automated integration? The [pricing reference](https://lassu.ai/pricing.md) lists the limits. For local coding agents that need to demonstrate their work, see [Lassu MCP](https://lassu.ai/mcp); this requires a compatible local setup and desktop permissions.
